“THE” goes to Florida! Common Questions
Jan 06

Hello Participants!

I have been receiving a lot of emails about clothing for the event, monologues, and when the general times are so you can book your flights! Here’s some more information that can be helpful for you.

ZED/COMP cards are really only recommended for those who are in the modeling portion of the events, or are interested in Modeling! Headshots should be in color, NOT black and white.

I’ve received this question a few times, but we do NOT provide clothing for participants. What you need as far as wardrobe is as follows:

Monologue, TV Commercial, Beauty Commercial, Scene, One-Liner, and Workshops: Anything comfortable, casual, and trendy! Girls, we don’t need skin. Boys, no cut-offs! Everything should be clean and appropriate.

Runway: Trendy, casual clothing.

Swimwear: Two pieces are allowed, but they must be kept tasteful. No flip-flops, you will be barefoot. Girls can wear sarongs(skirts)

Jeans: White t-shirt and jeans. No overalls, shorts, cutoffs, printed colors. Plain blue jeans, capris are accepted.

Overview (For EVERY Participant!): Black and white outfit, casual. This can be all black, all white, or any combination of the two.

Awards Ceremony and Red Carpet: This is a black tie event! Girls, wear your best dress. Boys, this can be a tux, a suite, or a button-up shirt with nice slack. This goes for the parents as well!

I am still receiving a lot of questions about wardrobe. “What kind of shoes should they wear?”, “What colors should we stay away from?”, “How about a skirt?”, “Do black tie dresses need to be long?”

I am always here to help you, but we give you freedom within the requirements we have set because we want parents to use their best judgment.  We have a very supportive staff, we provide you will all the knowledge you will need for this event.

Unfortunately, this won’t be the case with agencies and casting calls that you may have to attend in the future. They will expect you to know everything already, and if you seem confused or behind they will most likely not stop to help. This is about making decisions.

Choose what you think your child looks best in. Who knows them better than their parents?

What NOT to do:

No crazy hair dos! Keep your style simple. For girls, a loose ponytail or leave it down, but always keep it out of your face! Swooping bang over your eyes are a “no”.
No accessories or props, and most of all… no hats! It defeats the purpose of keeping your hair back. Props only distract the industry professionals from your performance, and you want them to have their eyes on you the whole time.

No makeup, or at least very little of it. We want to see you as a blank slate! When you start getting jobs, then you can get a portfolio together of all your different looks and roles. For now though, they want to know how you can make yourself unique without the aid of makeup.

For monologues, no character costumes. The same idea applies… we want you to portray your character strictly through your acting abilities.

All events and ceremonies will be held at the Swan. The rooms are blocked there as well.

Also, THE will begin on the 24th around 10am for registration, and end around 6pm. You can show up any time between there, but we urge you to try to show before 3pm so you may check into your hotel on time! On March 28th (Sunday), callbacks and open call will end around 6pm. If you are worried about not having enough time, then please schedule to leave on Monday. We do not want the participants feeling rushed with the Industry Professionals.

All participants will be receiving their own specific itineraries for the week, along with a booklet of all agents attending the event. This booklet will contain a bio on each industry professional, who’ve they’ve represented, and what they have done.

You can book your hotel at any time, since they will not charge you until you are leaving. You can call: 1-888-828-8850 or go to http://www.lovethespotlight.info/orlando.html . Group Code: NED323

As always, feel free to give me a call if you have any questions!
